Movie Review: Tomorrowland

Sorry the review took so long to get out but I have been really sick lately and haven’t been able to get on and write the review. I hope you understand this and won’t criticize me for getting the reviews out so late. Thanks!

The movie starts out sort of like a documentary in my eyes, with Frank Walker (played by George Clooney) talking about the end of the world and looking into the camera as if he were talking to you directly. As the scene progresses, a countdown clock is now on screen, then Casey Newton (played by Britt Robertson) starts to talk about how he always starts with the bad stuff and that it wasn’t always like this, and then, sudden flashback (sort of)

We meet other characters like Athena (played by Raffey Cassidy) who is a robot that chooses Casey to fulfil a goal for saving the future. There is also Nix (played by Hugh Laurie) and he seems to be on the more negative side of things. Although as a whole I really thought that the acting was mostly believable but there were some moments that just seemed a bit unrealistic to me.

Overall though, I would rate this movie 8.6/10 for some of the most realistic scenes in the movies I’ve reviewed but a slightly more predictable story plot than other movies.

Movie Review: Pitch Perfect 2

Pitch Perfect 2 is, of course, a sequel, which meant that I had to catch up on the story by watching a very good movie called Pitch Perfect, which definitely set the bar for this movie. If you haven’t seen Pitch Perfect before, I would definitely recommend it, especially if you are planning to see this movie afterwards.

The movie starts 3 years after the ending of the first movie, at one of their tour shows on the president’s birthday, who came to their show to see how good they were. You can see what happened after that in the trailer I am including in this post. In doing so they got embarrassing world news exposure and if you look closely you can actually make out some of the more popular news programs on tv

The acting was believable most of the time, and the songs must have taken a very long time to perfect with how well they performed them. I don’t know all the names of all the songs, but I did recognize some of them, and they are pretty good songs too.

Overall, I would rate this movie 8.8/10 for some funny jokes and great songs, but some recycled material could have been left out.

Movie Review- Avengers: Age of Ultron

I would like to apologize for this blog post taking so long to publish as my family and I were heavily involved in getting ready for this years Prince George 24 hour Relay for Life in support of the Canadian Cancer Society. Congratulations Prince George on another year well done!

My family really loves the Marvel movies. We have a lot of the Marvel movies which we have all watched many times over and so they were pretty jealous when I got to go watch the latest in the Avengers series to review.

The movie starts with a battle between the Avengers and Hydra because Hydra has Loki’s staff and is trying to use it as a weapon of some sort against the Avengers. Of course, the Avengers take Loki’s staff from Hydra, and then Hawkeye gets shot by a laser turret.

The story plot wasn’t what I thought it would be based on the commercials, but it did make sense, for a while. The sudden plot changes had me rethinking the entire plot of the movie with the movies unexpected plot twists that made me want to say “Wait, no, go back and pause! I want to see that again!” then I remembered that I was in the theater and didn’t say anything, so I continued rethinking the plot.

I like how the actors had their previous movies to get used to their characters which made the movie more realistic, but less realistic at the same time. When I say less realistic it is not a bad thing but more of how they honed their inhuman abilities, and for some other things that are related to the story plot and might spoil the movie if I told you.

I would rate this movie 9/10 for great story plot, once I got it all figured out, and for great overall acting.

On a die hard fan note for those who want to know extra details check out the TV Series Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D season 2 episode titled "The Dirty Half Dozen" before watching the movie and then watch the episode "Scars" afterwards.
